Early next year is about time to cancel my Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) credit card. Points will expire if they are not redeemed. I do not know my travel plan of next year and prefer not to transfer into any particular airline programs. United Mileage or Southwest Credit Card which offers Dining Program (no membership fee) as an option to keep earning points and therefore extending the life of UA and Southwest points. Fortunately, SPG offers household points transfer option for free at

The SPG website says
If you share an address, you can share Starpoints! Members of the same household can move Starpoints between accounts
Members of the same household* can move Starpoints between accounts. Simply fill out the form below and click "Transfer." Please note that it may take up to five business days to complete transfers.
*Both accounts must have been active and with the same address on each for at least 30 days. SVO Owners may transfer to other SVO Owners even if not at the same address. Starwood Employees may not have any Starpoints transferred into their SPG account.
I selected to transfer all my Starwood points to my wife's SPG account.
When, another year later, her remaining Starwood points are about to expire, we will redeem into American Airline AAdvantage Program at 1:1 ratio.
Starwood Preferred Guests can transfer up to 79,999 of their Starpoints® per transaction per program within a 24-hour period to the frequent flyer programs listed below.¹ Plus, for every 20,000 Starpoints transferred within the same transaction, Starwood will automatically add another 5,000 Starpoints!This means that up to 94,999 Starpoints can be transferred into your frequent flyer account, with most airlines, making a free flight that much closer.² Please keep in mind that only one airline transfer transaction per member, per airline program, is permitted within a 24-hour period.
American Airline is a oneworld Airline Participant. We can redeem (not transfer) AA miles for airline tickets of, for example, Japan Airline, British Airway, Hawaii Airline, Alaska Airline.
