Hilton Waterfront Beach Resort, $95 for Two Nights

Beautiful Life

We wanted to drive, so drove from northern California to southern California (San Diego and Los Angeles) to enjoy a warm Christmas and New Year vacation.  It was also time to redeem the two bonus Hilton hotel certificates from Hilton Reserve Card that were saved for a planned Europe trip which did not  materialize. (Tips to find Hilton hotel rooms available for redeem)

Planning
  • I skimmed through Hilton Category chart to locate the highest category Hilton hotels in California to redeem the two Hilton certificates applicable for standard-rate room only.
  • Beach resort is preferred.

Based on its proximity to a beach, Los Angeles and San Diego, Hilton Waterfront Beach Resort, a Hilton category 9 hotel, was our pick.

Quality of Stay - Excellent
  • The cleanliness and staff courtesy anywhere in the hotel was excellent; whenever we tried to take a photo of us, a hotel staff would come over to offer his/her assistance.
  • Our bedroom was spacious, clean and quiet.
  • The beach resort is located just one block from the Huntington Beach which itself is a beauty.
  • The downtown is about 0.5 mile away from hotel, with plenty of nice restaurant choices.
  • The Shades restaurant offers excellent food and services with attractive prices after the 20% discount.
  • Isa got a cold and fever in the first night stay.  The room-cleaning lady automatically placed a ice-filled bucket in our room next day, as I filled the bucket with ice the night before.

Is this Sunset view relaxing?
At the reception, Hilton Gold membership complimentary benefits were presented by the receptionist.
  • Free Wi-Fi
  • Free Hilton Continental Cold Breakfast or $15 credit applied to any Hilton order (in restaurant or room service)
  • One-time 20% Discount applied to brunch, lunch or dinner at the Shades restaurant inside Hilton Waterfront Beach Resort
*Hilton Reserve Card automatically comes with Hilton Gold membership for one year

Shades Restaurant - Huntington Beach
We normally do not dine inside a hotel.  The jazzy night view of the Shades Restaurant from our bedroom gave us a different thought.

Cost
  • $95 Hilton Reserve Card non-waive-able membership fee with $2500 minimum spending requirement within the first 4 months.  We saved $300 for two nights stay.
  • $35 daily parking fee at the Waterfront Beach Resort, comparable to JW Marriott Santa Monica Hotel.
  • One night of standard room is typically priced at $200 before tax.

Luxury travel at an affordable price.
