Chase Checking $150 Bonus for new Chase Checking Customer

Personal Finance >>
Today an email from Chase from arrived to my wife's email account.
(I managed our emails)

With her approval, I applied for her a new Chase total checking account.  A better promotion would be the $200 bonus. But we don't know when the $200 would come.  The bonus is taxable, anyway. So, $50*60% = $30 is not worth the wait.  The real reason to have a Chase checking account, as mentioned in my previous blog, is to build up her credit score and for future easier approval of Chase credit cards.  Chase offers many good credit credits. I would like to maximize the chances of approval.

Update: This target promotion does not require direct deposit.  We visited a local Chase branch on Jan 12, and opened a Chase checking account.  The requirement does not have the third condition.

Bonus/Account Information: Offer not available to existing Chase checking customers, those with fiduciary accounts, or those whose accounts have been closed within 90 days or closed with a negative balance. To receive the bonus: 1) open a new Chase Total CheckingSM account, which is subject to approval; AND 2) deposit $100 or more within 10 business days of account opening. After we receive your minimum $100 deposit, we'll deposit the bonus in your new account within 10 business days. The bonus cannot be used as the opening deposit. You can only receive one checking account–related bonus per calendar year. Bonus is considered interest and will be reported on IRS Form 1099–INT.

Account Closing: If your checking account is closed within six months, we will deduct the bonus amount at closing.

I could not share the Chase $150 coupon code. I googled search "Chase 150" to look for original Chase $150 promotion that is available to everyone.  Here it is the web link.  This one expires on January 15, 2013, much earlier than the February deadline offered in the email.

I entered my email address but was presented error code.  No fret.  Print out this web page, and visit local Chase branch.  I would bet Chase would honor the offer, because Chase cares about customer image.

To receive $150, there are conditions, most important is the red-highlighted portion:
