How to Earn Southwest Rapid Reward Points Faster?

A low-fare one-way flight from San Jose, CA to Las Vegas can be US $100 via online order, yet asks for only 5500 Southwest points.  To earn 1000 points, typically, one would have to spend $1000. Some of my favorite ways to earn Southwest Rapid Reward Points.

• Sign-up for Chase Sapphire Credit Card to receive the 40K bonus points.  Points can be transferred to Southwest 1:1.  A 40K sign-up Sapphire Bonus then becomes 40K Southwest points. Annual fee $95, waiveable for 1st year. https://creditcards.chase.com/credit-cards/sapphire-preferred-card.aspx

• Sign-up to receive 500 points for opt-ing in to receive Rapid Rewards emails. http://www.southwest.com/rapidrewards/emails
• Participate in "Rapid Rewards" Dining Program. Reward Dining Program  If the same credit card is already registered in United MileagePlus Dining Program, the new enrollment will remove the old one
