How to Recycle fluorescent light bulb / tubes, batteries

After my kitchen remodel, I have my fluorescent tubes sitting in my garage for months, because I was looking for a proper way to dispose, trash or recycle them.  The approach is actually simple and free.

I called.  HomeDepot will accept my fluorescent tubes.
