Gaia Napa Valley Hotel won LEED Gold

Per USAtoday.com, the hotel costs around $20 million. The first in the state and nation to win a LEED Gold certification. LEED stands for "Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design-certified". LEED Platinum is the highest available certification. Their website has details about eco-friendly features the hotel has. I hope that bigger and more profitable hotel franchise such as Marriot, Sheraton will follow the trend and champion for the highest LEED Platinum. Eco-friendly apartments will be nice, if rent is not much higher, and best of all, if some federal tax credits available.

This hotel is definitely in my radar. I tried to place subscription to Gaia's email listing for special offerings. It seems that it is not a commonly-visited feature, because the functionality is not working. The hotel also has Al Gore's book "An Inconvenient Truth" in each of the room.
